-Do you offer horse riding on the property?
Yes, we do! Come and explore 2800 acres of mountain wilderness. Thredbo Valley Horseriding operates a stable at Pender Lea, and the owner Nev, is a born and bred mountain man. He will match you up to the perfect horse and guide you throughout this amazing adventure. Bookings are essential and guests of Pender Lea receive a special rate. -What is the best time of year to go fishing?
You can fish in the lake all year-round, and the rivers offer their best fishing from October to May.
-Is there fishing at Pender Lea?
If you love fishing, Pender Lea has one of the most coveted fishing spots in the area. Our 4WD drive track winds down to a private isolated fishing spot on the Thredbo River. The track is closed in winter. In summer you will need a 4WD with low range and high clearance as the track to the river is very steep and rocky. The Thredbo River can also be accessed in a 2WD from Skitube or a number of other locations.
-What is there to do in Summer?
When the snow thaws, alpine meadows bloom with wildflowers and trout fill the streams. In the warmer months, the mountains have an amazing list of things to see and do including climbing Mt Kosciuszko, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, golf, water sports and a bobsled or chairlift ride. -It’s my first time skiing, should I take lessons?
If you haven’t skied before, it’s a really good idea to take some lessons. This will help you enjoy your time at the snow, ensure you know the right way to use the equipment and help you to avoid accidents.
-Can I hire ski gear at Pender Lea?
While we don’t have our own hire, we do have an arrangement with Monster Sports and Time 2 Ride in Jindabyne, with both offering special discounts to Pender Lea guests.
By hiring your gear when you arrive, it means that you can change it or get something fixed at any time, should you need to.
-What time are the lifts open each day?
Lifts are open daily from 9.00 am until 4.30pm.
-What does a lift pass entitle me to?
You get all mountain access, plus if you choose to buy a lift and lesson ticket, you receive a lesson each day. Your lift ticket doesn’t include the National Park Entry Fee, however, if you choose to ski at Perisher, you can purchase a lift pass with Skitube ticket included. If you want to ski in more than one resort, you’ll need to purchase a separate lift ticket for each place.
-Can I go toboganning without a lift ticket?
Yes, you can, no lift pass is needed. However, for your own safety, it’s strongly recommended that you stay within the designated toboganning areas within the resort.
-Can I ski or snowboard without a lift ticket?
You will need a valid lift ticket to catch any chairlift or t-bar in the ski resorts.
-What is there to do in Winter?
In Winter, the mountains become a playground for snow worshippers. There’s a long list of exciting activities, including snowboarding, skiing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and lots more. Check out our Winter Guide here.
-What time of the year does it snow?
We usually get our first fall of snow at the end of May and our last one in October... In saying that we have had 5 white Christmas’ in the last 8 years.
-Does it snow at Pender Lea ?
We do get snow at Pender Lea quite a few times during winter, but it tends not to stay around too long. However, the snowmen our guests make do survive for a few days.
